Proceeds from the sale of these paintings help pay for the airfare, visas, and medical insurance needed to bring a group of youngsters from Belarus to San Diego. Every $1,650 that is raised brings an additional Belarusian child to San Diego. In view of the economic situation in Belarus, we have to assume the entire financial responsibility. Purchasing a painting made by a young European artist may not only be a great addition to your home or office interior, but will also put us closer to bringing another Chernobyl child for a summer health respite.
Children of Chernobyl is a 501(C)3 non profit organization, so please note that a substantial portion of the sale of all artwork (paintings, not cards) is tax deductible.

2007 marked the first year that the Children of Chernobyl Foundation participated in the Arts Alive Banner Contest, an annual event which takes place between February and May. Olga Korablyova, our 2006 first place winning artist, designed and painted the shown banner, entitled "From Belarus to So Cal." The banner depicts the contrast between the children's life in the Chernobyl Region versus the carefree lifestyle that they enjoy during their respite stay in San Diego. This banner measures 84 inches by 30 inches, and along with the other 80 banners, was displayed in the Encinitas/Cardiff region for several months. A live auction took place on May 20, and the proceeds from the sale of this lovely banner went towards funding another needy child’s respite homestay in San Diego. Encinitas is the home of the original Arts Alive Program that has spread to dozens of towns and cities across the United States. This colorful community project of original artwork is organized by the 101 Artists' Colony, the Downtown Encinitas Main Street Association, and the Cardiff 101. NEW - Permanent Artwork Venue Announcement
Children of Chernobyl is pleased to anounce its recent
partnership with the Hasenstab and Associates Law Firm,
who has generously donated their spacious new downtown office
to exhibit the Belarusian students' artwork. Approximately
35-40 paintings, of varying media and themes, will be on
permanent display at 1230 Columbia Street, Suite 1120 (map).
Sales of paintings goes towards bringing needy children
from the contaminated Chernobyl region to San Diego for
summer respite vacations.
A reception to celebrate the opening of the new law office,
and to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the Chernobyl
disaster, will take place on Thursday, April 26, from
5pm to 9pm. Buffet-style refreshments will be served.
Five Star Parking has generously donated parking
in the lot on the corner of A Street and Columbia Street,
which is located just north of the law building where the
event will be held. There is no attendant; you may simply
park your car and walk next door to the event.
